How Triton met Neptune Planetary physicists in the US may have solved one of the biggest mysteries of our solar system -- how Neptune's largest moon, Triton, was captured by the giant planet. Craig Agnor of the University of California at Santa Cruz and Douglas Hamilton at the University of Maryland believe that Triton may once have been part of a binary system that strayed too close to Neptune.
