Total reflection doubles up Physicists have measured for the first time the length of time that light spends outside a piece of glass when it undergoes total internal reflection. Albert Le Floch and colleagues at the University of Rennes in France found that there are in fact two of these Wigner delays, and not just one as first suggested by Newton (D Chauvat et al. 2005 Physics Letters A 336 271).
