eBay buys out Skype for $2.6B Skype said Monday it will be acquired by eBay for $2.6 billion. The voice over Internet protocol company said in a news release that eBay's acquisition of Skype "will strengthen eBay's global marketplace and payments platform, while opening several new lines of new business."
